San José is a Spanish municipality located in the southwest of the island of Ibiza, in the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands. The Talayero municipality is the westernmost in Ibiza and the entire Balearic Islands, and therefore the closest to the peninsula, along the coast of Jávea.
Situated in the western part of Ibiza, San José (Sant Josep in Catalan) stands as a charming village situated at the foothills of Sa Talaia, the island's highest peak reaching 475 meters. Functioning as the central hub for the surrounding area, San José boasts an array of excellent restaurants, shops, and bars. Along its main street, an impressive church takes centre stage, offering a tranquil retreat under the shade of courtyard trees
Despite becoming a new home for many from different countries, San José retains its traditional Ibizan character. The church bells still ring at 8:00 every morning, elderly gentlemen gather in cafes for their daily brandy, and locals pause their cars in the road for a brief chat through the window. Life unfolds here at a more leisurely pace compared to the hustle and bustle of larger resorts.
